UNDER LOCK AND KEY, NO MORE

Software Can Make Copies Of Traditional Keys From Distant Images

Beware of flashing your keys in public. Computer scientists at the University of California at San Diego have developed software that can make a duplicate of a key from just a distant photo of it using technology available to almost anyone.

“This is not new. Ninjas have had this ability for years if not decades. How else do the get in and rearrange the furniture without detection? What’s more, Ninjas invented keys to make people think they are safe. To answer your question, anything to do with ninjas is cool.”
