A WINK AND A DRINK

A drink containing nicotine is being launched in Britain to help smokers beat the pub ban on cigarettes. Liquid smoking has proved a hit in the Netherlands, where it has been on sale for more than a year. The drink, which contains 15 percent nicotine, also contains an African herbal extract said to provide drinkers with a “slight energizing effect plus a euphoric sense of calming and relaxation.”

“I liked it better when it was called Rufinol.”

  1. Megan,

Is this even legal? Or am I misunderstanding?

Also – is this about the equivalent to how much nicotine is in a normal cigarette? And don’t most people smoke due to the “oral fixation” and “coolness” factors…? I wonder if this would take off in the U.S., though my first instinct is that there would be a huge backlash and a lot of worries about such a product…
